Mata Berkabut (Cloudy Eye)

Mata berkabut atau "cloudy eye" ditandai dengan memutihnya selaput mata ikan. Permukaan luar mata tampak dilapisi oleh lapisan tipis berwarna putih.

Secara umum gejala ini disebabkan oleh kondisi kualitas air yang memburuk, terutama sebagai akibat meningkatnya kadar amonia dalam air. Apabila gejala mata berkabut terjadi, makah hal yang harus dicurigai terlebih dahulu adalah kondisi air. Koreksi parameter air hingga sesuai dengan keperluan ikan yang bersangkutan. Apabila gejala ini terjadi, sedangkan parameter air dalam keadaan normal, maka terdapat kemungkinan gejala tersebut disebabkan oleh hal lain.

Fin Rot

Disease Type: Bacterial (gram negative organism)
Organism: Aeromonas, Pseudomonas fluorescens, or Vibrio

Description:

Fin Rot is one of the most common, as well as most preventable, diseases in aquarium fish. Although it is caused by several types of bacteria, and often occurs concurrently with other diseases, the root cause is always environmental in nature. Fin Rot can be difficult to cure, particularly in the more advanced stages. If left untreated, it will eventually kill the diseased fish and infect all the other fish in the tank.

Cause and Symptoms

* The cause of this condition is Hexamita Protozoa , parasitic organisms that are highly contagious.
* These parasites thrive with poor water quality management.
* If your fish has this condition, you will notice the appearance of small pits and pimples mainly on the fish's head. These pits will simply grow and form bigger pits.
* The pits are white in color, and sometimes mucous are visible around them.
* In addition to losing weight, becoming lethargic, and losing their appetites, the fish will produce white, stringy feces.

Treatment

* Add Dimetrydazole (5mg/l) or Metronidazole (7mg/l).
* Repeat treatment once every 3 days.
* Do a 20%-30% water change.
* It is sometimes necessary to inject Metronidazole, but injections near the affected area should be attempt only by qualified personnel.

Preventive measures :

* Change your water regularly.
* Quarantine new fish for three to four weeks.
* Avoid cross-tank contamination.

Flowerhorns sickness, diseases and prevention

I wish I had enjoyed my flowerhorns where they would never get sick and died. However, I found out that they do get sick and die and most of you had learned that as well. I’ve been caring tropical fish since I was 6 years old. And I always felt so bad when my fish died of sickness. Experienced has taught me how to prevent an outbreak, identified and diagnosed the diseases before making some drastic moves. We get so worried right away when suddenly our flowerhorns are not eating, clamped fins, not active and gasping for breath. Hey! Let me ask you these first. When was the last time you changed your water? What’s the temperature right now? Have you check your water parameters? (PH, Ammonia, Nitrate). Sometimes these problems are the culprits.

Caring for flowerhorns are not just feeding them 2 to 3 times daily. Maintaining water qualities are also essentials as feeding them daily. Yes, they also have feelings as human do.

Is the typical sign of disease outbreak. Everyday, when we feed our flowerhorns we always looked and observe them. Overtime our eyes are trained when we detect some strange behavior on our fish appearance and body language

The thing about raising FlowerHorn is that you could start off with just one 10 gallon tank and the next thing you know is that you are and will be surrounded by tanks just like if you were at the aquarium. This is the same outcome that happened to all FlowerHorn Enthusiasts, Hobbyists and Breeders that I know. But having a fish tank filled with water doesn't mean it will be capable to keep a FlowerHorn well and alive... These are the best water condition for your FH.
